Thoracic aortic parallel stent-graft behaviour when subjected to radial loading

To manage complex aortic arch disease using minimally invasive techniques, interventionalists have reported the use of multiple stent-graft devices deployed in a parallel configuration. The structural device-device and device-artery interactions arising during endografting, also known as chimney thoracic endovascular repair (ch-TEVAR), is not well understood. Through radial force testing system we sought to characterise both loading deformation behaviour endografts representative ch-TEVAR configurations. Four commercially available (Bentley BeGraft, Gore TAG, Viabahn, Medtronic Valiant) were subjected uniform load individually, six combinations, quantify profiles. Image data collected analysed evaluate mechanical deformations terms gutters, main endograft compression, graft infolding. Parallel endografting was found increase loads when compared standard TEVAR. Chronic outward dependent on manufacturer, with TAG combinations leading consistently higher than Valiant, but independent type.
